SERVICE PROJECTS
At the Mathews Rotary Club, service isn’t just something we talk about—it’s something show up for, together. From expanding access to clean drinking water to supporting early childhood education and hosting events that uplift our entire community, our members are hands-on and heart-first. Guided by the Rotary motto, Service Above Self, we focus our efforts where they matter most—right here in Mathews County. Below are just a few of the ongoing and recent projects that reflect our commitment to building a stronger, healthier, and more connected community.

observation walkway rebuild at new point comfort natural area preserve
|
The Mathews Rotary Club has led a four-year effort to reconstruct the 200-foot walkway and observation deck at the New Point Comfort Natural Area Preserve, the closest land-based view of the historic lighthouse. With over $35,000 raised locally and matched by a NOAA grant, the project is now fully complete. Rotary’s commitment to this restoration reflects its dedication to preserving local landmarks and supporting community-focused efforts that benefit its residents and visitors. Club members maintain the premise regularly to ensure stewardship of the fresh grounds and public usage impacts.
